Curious Cat Learns To Use iPad After Watching Her Artist Mom

Hannah Lu Anderson spends countless hours using her iPad to draw, paint, and create.

The soft tapping of her stylus has become part of her home’s daily rhythm.

But recently, she discovered that someone very close to her had been quietly studying her every move — her beloved cat, Artemis.

A Curious Cat’s Lesson in Creativity

Artemis has always been a thoughtful observer.

She often curls up beside Hannah during long creative sessions, her golden eyes flicking between the moving images on the screen and her owner’s focused expression.

To Hannah, it was just comforting company. She never imagined that her cat was doing more than simply watching — she was learning.

Sometimes, Hannah would leave the iPad on after finishing her work, playing videos of birds to amuse Artemis.

The little cat would sit there, tail twitching, fully absorbed by the fluttering wings and chirps. What seemed like a harmless distraction soon turned into something much more surprising.

The Moment Artemis Took Over the Screen

One quiet afternoon, Hannah decided to take a break from her projects and set up a few bird clips for Artemis.

She placed the iPad on the floor, hit play, and went about tidying the room. When she turned back, she froze.

There was Artemis — not just watching, but using the iPad. With one paw, she swiped across the glass. Then, with incredible precision, she tapped the screen again, making the image scroll.

Her tiny pink tongue even poked out to “click” on something new, just as Hannah herself might.

Hannah laughed in disbelief. “How did you learn that?” she asked aloud, reaching for her phone to record the moment.

The sight of her cat confidently navigating a tablet looked like something straight out of a tech commercial.

Later, Hannah shared the video online, her voice still filled with laughter. “That was the first time I’d ever seen her do the scrolling motion,” she said. “I couldn’t believe how natural she looked doing it.” Whether Artemis truly understood what she was doing or was just mimicking the motion didn’t matter — it was too perfect to ignore.

A Cat With an Eye for Entertainment

After her digital adventure, Artemis landed on a video showing a family of ducks waddling across a stream, their cheerful quacks echoing from the speakers.

She sat completely still, ears perked, watching the water ripple across the screen.

Somehow, in her own way, she had found the perfect entertainment for herself — no human required.

For Hannah, the moment was more than funny. It was heartwarming.

It reminded her of the quiet intelligence pets carry — how much they notice, how much they feel, and how deeply they connect with the people they love.

Artemis had been by her side for years, silently sharing space and routines, and now she had learned something from those shared hours of creativity.

When asked about it later, Hannah smiled and said she wasn’t sure if Artemis really knew how technology worked, but she was certain of one thing: her cat loved being part of her world.

“She just wants to do what I do,” Hannah said. “And honestly, I think she’s better at it than me sometimes.
